Welcome to Great Short Stories

I started this website because I love short stories. Love them. To me, short stories are the perfect bite of food. They are the heart of the watermelon. A cross between poetry and the novel, short stories are a gift wrapped in red ribbon. While working as a journalist, I read my way through anthologies, periodicals and collections of short stories. I couldn’t get enough. Still can’t. I found myself wanting to join the ranks of those writers who inspired me, delighted me, changed me. I wanted to offer something in return. I began submitting my own stories for publication. Over the last handful of years, through many submissions to literary journals, many rejections and a few acceptances, my admiration of the short story has grown ever larger, like a red balloon filling with air.

I believe that the short story form doesn’t receive its due in the greater world of fiction. GreatShortStories.com is my attempt to rectify that imbalance. On a regular basis I will share stories that have changed me, changed the way I think about life, made me laugh out loud, stunned me with their brilliance.
